A gym that outgrew itself
U FIT Fitness and Wellness started small and earned its way bigger. In early 2020 the business moved into a larger facility in Godfrey, Illinois, because the community it served had outgrown the original space. More room, more equipment, more class formats, and more ways for people to train.
Lawrence Gordon co-owns U FIT with Aaron Scott, and the pair built the gym’s reputation on a simple idea: personalized coaching in an environment where nobody feels like an outsider.
How U FIT trains people
The gym has always mixed formats so people can start where they are comfortable:
- Private personal training for people who want full attention on their goal.
- Group training sessions with drop-in options through the week.
- Boot camps for people who want intensity with community around it.
- Class variety across core work, full-body sessions, upper-body days, and lifting classes.
When the world locked down in 2020, U FIT went with it: live Zoom boot camps kept the community training from their living rooms, led by Lawrence and Aaron. That experience is why online coaching is a first-class offer here, not an afterthought.
Try before you commit
One thing Lawrence has always been vocal about: people should be able to experience the gym before committing to anything. Drop into a class. Feel the environment. Meet the coaches. Then decide what your goal needs. Fitness is a long game, and it goes better in a place you actually like showing up to.
Where the champion trains
U FIT is also where Lawrence prepared for the 2026 NPC Missouri State Championships, where he won the Men’s Physique overall title. The same floor hosts first-day beginners and a state champion mid-prep, which says everything about the culture: everyone is taken seriously, and nobody is above the fundamentals.
