Speaking and events
Book Coach JR to speak.
Lawrence Gordon placed seventh on a stage he had spent a year preparing for. He went back to work, and fourteen months later he won the 2026 NPC Missouri State Men's Physique Overall Championship. He speaks to teams, companies, schools and communities about the part in between, where the actual work happens.
Nothing here is a script. The story is his, the standards are the ones he holds himself to every day in the gym, and a room can always tell the difference between someone reciting a message and someone who lived it.
What he speaks about.
Every talk gets shaped around your audience and your theme. These are the threads he pulls from, and all of them come from things he has actually done.
Seventh to first
He placed seventh on a stage he had prepared a year for. Fourteen months later he won the overall title. The talk is about what happens in the part nobody photographs: the decision to go back to work after a public result you did not want.
Discipline that survives real life
Motivation is weather. Structure is climate. How to build habits that hold through travel weeks, family obligations, and the days you feel nothing at all.
Accountability without shame
How to hold people to a standard while keeping them in the room. Useful for managers, coaches, and anyone responsible for other people showing up.
The whole picture
Training, food, sleep, and mindset are one system, not four separate projects. What that means for a team that spends most of its day sitting down.
Confidence is built, not found
Confidence is the residue of kept promises. How small, repeated, unglamorous wins change what a person believes they are capable of.
Everyone starts somewhere
The gym he co-owns was built so beginners would not feel like outsiders. The same principle applies to onboarding anyone into anything hard.

Questions, answered
How long is a talk?
Set with you. Tell me the slot you need filled and the talk is built to that length rather than squeezed into it.
Will he travel to us?
Tell me your location in the form. Lawrence is based in the Alton and Godfrey, Illinois area near St. Louis, and travel is worked out per event.
Do you do virtual events?
Yes. Remote keynotes and workshops work well for distributed teams, and he has coached remotely since 2020.
Can the talk be tailored to our theme?
Yes, and it should be. The most useful thing you can put in the form is what you want the room walking out believing or doing. The talk gets built backward from that.
What does it cost?
It depends on the format, the travel, and the size of the event. Send the details and you get a straight number back, not a runaround.
How far in advance should we book?
The sooner the better, but send the request even if your date is not locked yet. Holding a tentative date is easier than finding one late.
Give your room something real.
No recycled motivation. A coach who lost, went back to work, and won, talking about the part that actually transfers.
